Hadstock NZ Governor
Governor has now proven himself and deserves to be included in our stable of quality males.
Hadstock NZ Governor in 2004
From the very first second we laid my eyes on Governor we were impressed and excited. He stood out from the crowd from a very early age. Governor looked like a Male Alpaca from six months of age. This boy is all Male.
Accompanying is a picture of Governor as I first saw him. Even at this very early age Governor had ‘Presence’. We saw him walking out of a cloud of mist on a wet day in Canterbury and I asked Russell, “Who is that boy and how much is he”?
It took a wee bit of negotiation and a pot of gold coins to secure his purchase, but Governor was all worth every penny (Gold Coin) we paid for him.
Governor is one of the best examples of a True to Type Alpaca to be found anywhere. He has Bone and Structure with an amazing Presence as we strolls around the paddock. He has a deep bold Crimp that is extremely even throughout his fleece.
Governor at 6 Months of Age when we first saw him
It’s a funny thing, but when Governor was being Shown as a young animal, the most common comment from the Judges was: I would like to see him a bit “Finer”. He was 24 Micron at the time. We showed him last year at the National as a 7 year old male and the Judges raved about how fine he was (for a male of this age) and how he still had an extremely well defined Crimp.
Governor has never changed – He was a good male when he was just two and he is still a good male now he is nearly 8 (2010)
Governor has of course sired many Cria now and nearly every one ends up with his bone and presence – We can pick any of his offspring once they hit the 5 month old mark – They look just like their Dad.
Every time a new Governor Cria hits the ground we keep saying to ourselves: "We must use Governor more in our Breeding programme."
Well this year we have put him to our best female (Portia) and we can’t wait to see what Governor does to a female of this quality. Our best Cria this season (2010) is the result of using Samuri over Governor's Daughters.
For those of you who like the Stats on a male; His first Fleece at 10 months of age was just under 20 micron and he shore 4 Kg. At three years of age Governor is now still only 25 micron but he shears 7kg of fleece annually. He actually grows so much fleece, he needs to be shorn every 8 months.
Below is his Pedigree and I am sure you will agree, this boy is stacked to the roof with genetics.
