Central Region Winter Show Results

This years Central Region Show was held in Porirua in Wellington. The venue was excellent but the weather was miserable, it rained most of the time but it was very pleasant inside the building.

Some of the animals did just not dry out at all and taking them outside was just not an option. But like all shows we were all in the same boat and no one had any advantage.

It is interesting how some animals just got wetter every hour and some actually dried out with being inside.

We did very well at the show and I think opened a few fellow breeders’ eyes, as to how our Breeding programme is progressing.

Besides winning Supreme Huacaya, we took 1st and 2nd in the Sires Progeny with Samuri being the Sire and we also took best White/Light Fawn, Mid/Dark Fawn, Brown and Grey Huacaya as well

I think the most pleasing result was in the Mid/Dark Fawn Colour Championship where there were 9 animals in the line up and seven of them were our animals, and another was by one of our Stud Males (Tupona).

“The judge commented that this was the hardest lineup of the Show to Judge” – Hotty was the eventual winner (due to his age) but Shakespeare was very close to taking this one.

The judge commented on Suntory when he took Supreme:

“If this animal looks this good, and opens up this easily when he is wet, I would love to judge him when he is dry – a beautiful male”
